Just been hearing reports that Kodak could soon be
filing for bankruptcy (it was actually while I was in
Poundland stocking up on £1
Kodak ColorPlus film that the guy in the queue next to me was telling me about them declaring bankruptcy). Bit of a shock really, they're like the biggest name in photography!
I found
this website, with an article titled 'Thanks for the Memories, Kodak', which looks back at Kodak advertising. Some of the videos are very sweet :) I really like these ones:
Also thinking that we may have to change the name of this blog soon?! Or keep it in tribute to Kodak.
I've heard the sad news too. That's why I'm always stocking up on film, I want to make sure to have enough for the future... I hope someone buys kodak and saves it.
ReplyDeleteGood thinking, I'm going to have to go and get some more now! And the disposable cameras I use are Kodak as well so I guess I'll have to stock up on them as well.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the place I get my films developed in is a Kodak shop so I don't know if they're going to have to shut down if they do declare bankruptcy :S
I don't think they will, or 90% of all the 1hr labs in every shopping mall in the world should be shut down as well, but I think I'll definitely put more effort in my film-hunt from now on!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you're pretty lucky, Colorplus is €2,50 here, which is about £2... small wonder everyone's gone digital 'round here :(
Yeah it's definitely the most expensive form of photography, but the results are so much better, in my opinion, that I reckon it's worth it!
ReplyDeleteI bought another 10 more. I might buy some just to save them until they expire, but that'd be a good few years so I'll probably end up using them!
